All summer, enjoy the Wednesday Sweet Walks of the Tourist Office to discover the lands of Azay-Chinon Val de Loire on foot, by bike, canoe or boat.

Easy walks, ideal with family or friends.

 Each walk will be an opportunity to taste some local specialties.

Wednesday 20/07

Cheillé, between curiosity, tasting and tradition

Departure: 9:30 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting in the Vieux Chêne car park, the Bourg, in Cheillé

During this walk (4 km) in the village of Cheillé, let yourself be surprised by the bicentenary oak tree that grows in the wall of the church, discover the history of the Castle of the Cour in the Berruyer before enjoying a tasting of local products.

Descent of the Loire in canoe

Departure: 5 pm/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting at the Langeais pier, lower left-hand corner of the Langeais bridge

At the end of this afternoon, have a moment out of time during a descent of the Loire in a canoe between Langeais and Bréhémont (5 km). Upon arrival, discover «Les Pêcheries Ligériennes», fishermen of Loire, followed by a tasting of their products.

The shingle birds of the Indre

Departure: 9:30 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting at the hemp macerator in Rivarennes – from the campsite in Rivarennes, follow the signs «sweet walks».

Accompanied by an animator of the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO), discover the charms of the shingle birds of the Indre and the ornithological richness of Touraine during this walk (4 km). A tasting will close this walk.

Possibility to complete this journey with a cycle ride on safe lane (with your personal bikes) towards Rigny-Ussé and its famous castle (10 km round trip). Plan your picnic.

Traditional boat ride

Departure: 4pm/ Duration: 1h30

Meeting at the confluence of the Cher and the Loire, the Bec du Cher in Villandry

During an authentic and timeless walk on a traditional boat, discover the Loire and its wild landscapes. Alexis, boatman, will make you discover the history, the fauna and the flora of Dame Loire.

Montbazon, history and nature

Departure: 9:30 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting at the Tourist Office, Parc de la Grange Rouge in Montbazon

Accompanied by a tour guide, discover all the charm and history of Montbazon. From footbridge to alleys, walk through the city to the fortress before going back to the tranquillity of the banks of Indre and a tasting of local products (3.5 km – a rather steep hill).

Descent of the Indre in canoe

Departure: 3.30pm/ Duration: 3 hours

Meeting at the VICK nautical base in Veigné

Discover all the beauty of the Indre valley during a canoe descent between Esvres and Veigné (5 km). Upon arrival, enjoy a moment of relaxation around a tasting in front of one of the many mills that cover the banks of Indre.

The birds along the Vienne

Departure: 10 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting at the beach car park, D 760 at Ile-Bouchard

Accompanied by an animator of the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO), walk along the banks of the Vienne to l’Ile Bouchard to discover and observe the birds of our region (2.5 km). A convivial tasting will close this ornithological walk.

Meeting at the Museum of Sailors in Chouzé-sur-Loire

Climb aboard a toue cabanée and let yourself be guided by a sailor to discover the Loire, a wild river, with its islands and sandbars. Back to the dock, continue the moment around a tasting of local products.

The troglos of the Courtineau valley

Departure: 9:30 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting in the car park after the mill of la Chaise, Courtineau Valley in Saint-Epain

During this walk (4 km), enjoy a shaded route to discover the troglodyte houses of the Courtineau Valley, up to the «troglo» Notre-Dame de Lorette Chapel. A local specialty will delight your taste buds at the end of this walk.

Meeting at the campsite in Marcilly-sur-Vienne

Embark for a sporty afternoon during a canoe descent (2 or 3 people) on the Vienne between Antogny-le-Tillac and Marcilly-sur-Vienne (9 km). Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing moment by the river around a tasting of local products.

In the footsteps of history, at the Roman camp

Departure: 9:30 am/ Duration: 2h30

Meeting in the car park of the Church in Cinais

During a walk, discover the village of Cinais and the Camp of the Romans. After the meeting with a nature animator, you will know all the history of these Gaulish fortifications as well as its so specific vegetation. Enjoy the scenery while tasting local products.
